It’s a BRAND NEW month. Goodness ya’ll, I can’t believe it’s already June. I woke up this morning to it pouring down rain and so I grabbed a cup of coffee and began to look back at May. God is SO good, even in the most painful times. I know one thing for sure is that He has shown me a lot of grace this past month, more than I even deserve. If I was to measure myself by what I’ve “done” for Him I would have failed miserably but it’s not the works that bring us into a deeper relationship with Him, it’s a willing heart, a heart that sees his/her imperfections and finds himself at the feet of Jesus. And at His feet is where I’ve been this past month. A friend took her life a couple of weeks ago and it completely shook me to my core. There was a week where I couldn’t even think straight, tears were all I had. I felt so broken and wanted just to hold tight each family member of hers. But through the healing process God has shifted my perspective to a deeper love I have never known. It’s a passion and love for people who struggle to know who they are and if they are loved by anyone. It’s brought me to awareness of those around me and to realize that a simple hug can change someone’s life forever. Sometimes we fail to see the depth of the struggle in those around us but that depth is the very place God can do a miracle. I want to be more aware and more open to see that depth in those around me.
Sometimes I wonder why I even write goals each month. Why I even take the time to write something down that I know in the back of my head I may fail miserably at. BUT if it only becomes words on a sheet of paper for me, it’s enough for me to at least “see” and try again. I may get hit hard with something each month that throws me off track but one thing the Lord taught me is that those life experiences, the ones I struggle through, are vital to my next step, my next season, and the change He is wanting to make within me.
